February news with Fred.

What a time to be alive!  February has us all on our toes and we are seeing some of the best momentum in the market in the last two years.  For the first time in a long time, we are returning to bulk recruitment needs in teams requiring short term support, and an increase in executive temp demand.  This may be the best indicator of how businesses are managing staff requirements while still figuring out what the market needs will be – taking on a temp to keep pressures off teams, tests the waters for a permanent hiring, and is a great solution.

  • The return of the counter offer.  We have seen a LOT of counter offers.  Putting a sound, strong offer forward is more important than before, talent is nervous to move, and a strong offer makes the decision much easier.  If you have an engaged and interested candidate and you’re serious about them, putting an offer in front of them that is exciting and has their attention helps to ensure counter offers are an easy ‘no’.

  • Seek data reports applications per job ad remain elevated, showing strong candidate movement continues.  On the home front we are seeing a continued subtle downturn in applicant numbers too, indicating the beginning of the turn in the market is definitely upon us.

  • Employers are increasingly flexible on remuneration structures and hybrid work to secure top talent.  We believe this is an essential piece to hiring with success in this market.  If you’re wanting to discuss what fair flexibility looks like or bounce ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of our experienced team.

  • FredMed has some exciting news to announce.  We welcome onboard Annie O’Donnell, with over 25 years of experience in recruitment, and the last decade in medical recruitment. If you’ve worked with Annie before you’ll know just how deep her experience runs, and how valuable her partnership is when hiring.  We are honoured to have her on board!

Momentum is building, 2026 has had a cracking start to the first quarter.  If you’d like to discuss recruitment, either current or future, with any of the team at Fred, we are here to help and happy to discuss any of your needs big or small.
