Casual Driver

We’re on the look out for a fit, reliable and friendly Casual Driver to support a well loved local charity doing incredible things across the Whangārei community. This is hands-on, practical work where no two days look quite the same.

What you’ll be doing

This role will see you driving a small box truck around the Whangārei area to collect donated goods from homes and businesses and delivering purchased items to customers. You’ll be the face of the charity on the road - meeting donors, loading furniture and ensuring items are safely transported to and from the charity shop.

• Delivering purchased furniture and larger items to customers
• Lifting, loading and unloading furniture, boxes and household items
• Working as part of a two person team

This is a casual role working 4 days next week 9am–4pm, starting on the 24th of February, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts in the coming weeks and months. 

Who are you

You will be practical, trustworthy and happy to roll up your sleeves to help out. You’ll enjoy being active, working in the community and taking pride in representing a great cause.

Confidence driving a small box truck is required, along with a clean full, new zealand drivers licence, flexible to work next week and any potential additional shifts in the weeks to come. 

This could suit someone between roles, a student on uni break, semi-retired and keen to stay active or anyone who prefers casual hours while contributing to a genuinely good cause.

• Full, clean NZ Driver’s Licence (essential)
• Have previous experience driving a box truck or higher
• Physically fit and comfortable lifting heavier items
• Honest, reliable and professional in your approach
• Fluent in spoken English with strong communication skills
• Able to work well in a team and independently
• Flexible availability
• Able to pass a Ministry of Justice check (no criminal convictions)
