Commercial Manager

About The Role: 

This position will see you taking the lead in shaping the company’s commercial direction, driving profitability and growth through effective pricing and tendering strategies. This is a pivotal position that will oversee all commercial functions, from managing contracts and building strong stakeholder relationships to identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

You’ll bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on leadership, confidence in navigating complex deals and an ability to guide your team in ensuring projects deliver strong financial outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone commercially minded with a background in Quantity Surveying.

Duties and responsibilities within the role: 

• Oversee all pricing, tendering, and bid preparation activities across multiple projects
• Lead a small, high-performing team, including a Senior Quantity Surveyor and two Quantity Surveyors, based across Christchurch and Auckland.
• Manage the preparation and submission of tenders, RFPs, and EOIs
• Market research & business development 
• Stakeholder & relationship management
• Drive the development and execution of contract negotiations, ensuring strong commercial outcomes
• Take ownership of the financial and commercial management of projects, including budgeting, cost tracking, risk assessment

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience as a Commercial Manager, within the construction or within a manufacturing related industry. You will be a qualified Quantity Surveyor and thrive within a changing and fast paced environment. This role will suit someone who enjoys working within a collaborative team, problem solving and can come into the business and hit the ground running.
