About the role 

My client is a fast growing, forward thinking freight forwarding company looking for an experienced Customs Broker to take ownership of a sole charge function within a business that’s genuinely on an exciting growth trajectory. You'll be responsible for Customs clearance across a complex and varied cargo portfolio, ensuring consistent KPI achievement and targets are met.

Ideal skills and experience

We’re seeking a skilled professional with a combination of technical expertise, industry experience, and strong interpersonal skills. To be successful in this role, you will have:  

  • 5+ years of experience in Freight Forwarding
  • Licenced Customs Broker, Customs PIN
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Highly detail oriented, organised, and efficient
  • Positive, proactive mindset
  • Proficiency in CargoWise

Duties include 

  • Manage end to end customs clearance and coordinate delivery of shipments
  • Prepare, review, and accurately classify customs entries across a complex cargo portfolio 
  • Respond to and resolve queries or issues raised by New Zealand Customs and MPI
  • Support clients with advice on tariff classification, duty rates, valuation methods, origin requirements, and tariff concessions
  • Prepare and manage invoicing for cleared shipments
  • Stay up to date with changes in customs legislation, MPI requirements, and industry trends, and apply these proactively
