My client is a well established, not-for-profit organization in the education space, making a meaningful difference for Kiwis across the country. With a strong backing and a stable foundation, this is a business that values its people and the impact they have.
Together, we are looking to hire a Senior HR Advisor to take the lead of the HR function of the New Zealand operations. You’ll be joining a close knit New Zealand team, whilst also being connected to the wider HR team across the ditch - giving you the best of both worlds.
About the role:
This is a true generalist role where you’ll take full ownership of the day to day HR responsibilities for New Zealand. Sitting at the leadership table, you’ll partner closely with the NZ CEO to influence people strategy, support decision making and shape the overall employee experience.
Whilst you’ll operate in a sole charge capacity locally, you won’t be on your own. You will still have the support of an experienced HR team behind you - a sounding board when needed or people to bounce around ideas with on challenges and initiatives.

You’re a seasoned HR professional who has hands on experience working at Senior HR Advisor or HR Management level and is confident working autonomously.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a sole charge capacity previously, or have had significant ownership within your role, where you are comfortable implementing and embedding HR practices.
Most importantly, you’re someone who can hold your own at the leadership table, your able to influence, challenge and guide leaders with confidence and credibility.

- Providing expert guidance and implementation on NZ employment legislation and employee relations matters
- Influencing strategic workforce planning and organizational direction
- Leading salary and performance review processes
- Driving engagement, wellbeing and culture initiatives
- Contributing to wider group projects, with exposure to transformation, growth and change across the broader business
So, who are you?
You’re a seasoned HR professional who has hands on experience working at Senior HR Advisor or HR Management level and is confident working autonomously.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a sole charge capacity previously, or have had significant ownership within your role, where you are comfortable implementing and embedding HR practices.
Most importantly, you’re someone who can hold your own at the leadership table, your able to influence, challenge and guide leaders with confidence and credibility.
This role will suit someone who:
- Has solid experience across ER, employment relations and NZ legislation, ideally around 5 years
- Confident making decisions and implementing HR initiatives independently
- Enjoys building relationships and influencing at a all levels
- Values purpose, balance and autonomy in their work
