This role will see you working with a very talented and high-performing team within the Canterbury region. Key site-based role for someone seeking complex infrastructure projects.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role on a major heavy civil construction project. You’ll be central to day-to-day site operations, ensuring safety, quality, and program goals are met on the ground.
Reporting to the Project Engineer/Site Manager, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of a range of technical and coordination tasks on-site. This is a hands-on role where your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to lead and communicate effectively will be essential. The head office is based in Queenstown, however this role will require some travel depending on project locations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee and coordinate daily site activities in accordance with project designs and schedules
- Supervise subcontractors and trades on-site
- Monitor compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards
- Conduct quality assurance checks and inspections
- Provide practical technical support and resolve construction issues as they arise
- Track progress and report on any delays or risks
- Manage site documentation, reporting, and record-keepingPromote and enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols
- Work closely with stakeholders including project managers, consultants, and suppliersContribute to continuous improvement and professional development initiatives
About you:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- 1–3 years’ experience in a construction environment, ideally with exposure to civil infrastructure or heavy construction
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, specifications, and site-based practices
- Proven ability to supervise site works and manage subcontractor performance
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes and site management software toolsStrong communication and coordination skills
- A proactive attitude towards safety, quality, and teamwork
