Are you a compassionate and skilled Social Worker looking to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer? This is a unique and highly collaborative support team with a role available for an experienced social worker best suited to someone who has previous experience and interest in providing counselling services. 

This part time role starts as a maternity cover for an 8 month period, however there is a strong likelihood that this role has on-going opportunity. Ideally you would be available to start early September. This maternity role is best suited to an outgoing person who is especially skilled and interested in supportive counselling.
  
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker with a background in counselling services (ideally), to join a highly supportive and multidisciplinary team in Auckland’s city fringe. In this meaningful role, you will provide psychosocial support to cancer patients and their whānau across various stages of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. You will be a part of a small, community based, collaborative team who are very team driven.
  
About the Role:
  • A community based role. A mix of working in the community as well as on-site
  • Autonomous role. Create your own day, create your own workflow
  • A highly collaborative role with a close-knit, team focused approach
  • Work together with medical and allied health professionals to ensure holistic care
  • Provide emotional and practical support to individuals living with cancer and their support networks
  • Conduct assessments, provide counselling, and connect patients with community resources
  • Advocate for patients’ needs within the healthcare system
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning and service development
About You:
  • A strong interest with some experience to develop into a more counselling based role
  • A recognised qualification in Social Work (Bachelor or Master level)
  • Registered with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB)
  • Experience in healthcare or oncology settings is highly desirable
  • Culturally responsive and able to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Empathetic, resilient, and a strong communicator
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Full drivers license 
  • It goes without saying that you will need exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
