About the company
My client supplies products to the civil industry. While they're not the biggest, they absolutely pride themselves in being the best. The team is made up of a hard working bunch of experienced professionals, who help make this business the success it is. You’ll be joining a team who are all working together to achieve the same results, who enjoy banter and comradery at work, and who each individually is a valued member of the team. With multiple branches across the upper North Island, this role will be responsible for the accuracy of inventory, pricing and related responsibilities, to ensure the team is consistently up to date.
The role
This is a varied, hands-on role that is best suited to someone who will efficiently and accurately manage the Supply Chain and Inventory, joining a small management team that will call on reports and data you will confidently produce, requiring a sound level of experience and proven ability in a similar environment. You will be confident in working with multiple branch managers to optimise stock levels and flag when queries need raising, ensure pricing updates are timely and accurate, with excellent communication skills. You’ll be someone who always has optimisation at the forefront of what you do, conscious of streamlining processes and more efficient ways of working.
What you'll actually be doing
- Owning the Rolling Stock Count programme across all branches and helping Branch Managers investigate and reduce variances
- Working with Branch Managers to keep SOH levels on budget, and optimum/safety stock levels current
- Managing overseas freight and international snapshot reporting
- End-of-month inventory reporting — flagging the stuff that matters, including slow and obsolete stock
- Managing the import of agency lines and keeping supplier communication sharp
- Monitoring daily GP% and margin reporting
- Owning pricing updates in the ERP and SharePoint, making sure price changes are captured and communicated
- Managing the pricing inbox (supplier pricelists in, customer pricelists out)
- Managing MPI compliance across all branches
- Looking for ongoing ways to improve inventory performance and profitability
What we're looking for
- Someone comfortable and experienced in this space and in a blue collar industry
- Strong attention to detail, especially around stock, data, and pricing accuracy
- Analytical thinking is a must, you need to be comfortable looking at numbers and working out what they're telling you
- Experience with an ERP or inventory management system
- A good communicator who can deal confidently with branch managers, suppliers, freight companies, and senior leadership
- Someone who takes ownership and doesn't wait to be told twice.
Prior experience in a supply chain, inventory, or operations coordination role would be ideal. Industry knowledge in civil, plumbing, or distribution is a plus but not essential.
This is a growing, NZ-owned business with a genuine team culture. The role has real breadth and close exposure to the Finance Controller and GM. An opportunity to be very close to the decision making team, and provide valuable contributing insights. If you're someone capable of responsibility with strong initiative, excellent analytical skills and a great team spirit, I’d love to hear from you.
