Team Leader – Assertive Community Treatment

We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Team Leader to lead this Assertive Community Treatment service within the Wellington region.
This is a true leadership role, overseeing a dedicated multidisciplinary team of eight clinicians and guiding the continued development and expansion of their model of care. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in managing change, supporting staff, and improving outcomes for people with complex needs.
About the Role
As Team Leader, you will provide leadership, operational oversight, and support to a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist mental health and addiction services across the community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team of 8 clinicians
- Managing service development and supporting change initiatives
- Ensuring delivery of safe, effective, and person-directed care
- Supporting staff to provide compassionate, recovery-focused practice
- Building strong relationships with primary care providers and NGO partners
- Supporting people experiencing complex mental health needs and significant social challenges
- Promoting culturally responsive practice aligned with Te Tiriti ō Waitangi
Salary + Reporting Line:
- Salary range: $125,000 - $135,000 per annum depending on experience
- Reporting to: Operations Manager
About the Team
The Assertive Outreach Team supports individuals with complex and enduring mental health needs, often alongside significant social, personal, and housing challenges.
Their team brings together a range of health professionals to deliver integrated, person-centred care, working flexibly and assertively to engage individuals who have historically struggled to connect with traditional community mental health services.
The focus is on building trust, reducing barriers to engagement, and supporting recovery in the community—creating meaningful change where it has previously been difficult to achieve.
About You
You are an experienced, registered mental health professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.
You will bring:
- Experience leading or managing a small multidisciplinary team
- Confidence in managing change and supporting service development
- A commitment to person-directed, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused care
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working with primary care and NGO providers
- Cultural competence and commitment to equity and Te Tiriti ō Waitangi
- Experience supporting diverse populations including Pacific peoples, refugee and migrant communities, disabled people/tāngata whaikaha, rainbow communities, and those living in isolated settings
- Current professional registration and NZ Annual Practising Certificate
- A full, clean Driver’s Licence
- Ability to complete Police Vetting under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2015
