You will be joining a thriving international firm, with a diverse portfolio of exciting projects, and a team of professionals that are deeply embedded in their craft.  

This role offers development in the IT space, suitable for someone with a sharp mind that enjoys tech and AI, and fine tuning systems and processes. 

You’ll join a small but punchy team, based in lovely Christchurch CBD offices, and will work across their nationwide and global entities.  Suited best to someone committed to the journey, driven to be a valuable and vital part of the team.  You’ll be hands on, very busy, and will manage exciting and challenging projects requiring accuracy and a strong vision, and be responsible for two direct reports.  

You will be involved in introducing and embracing AI automation in all areas that improve task efficiency for the finance team, making a direct and immediate impact on the wider team as well as your own small finance team.  This firm is all about staying well ahead of the curve, and embraces intelligent, future forward thinking. 

Responsibilities:

You’ll take ownership of full-cycle accounting across multiple entities; a leadership-level role responsible for:

• Managing financial operations across all entities such as intercompany reconciliations, payroll, PAYE, GST, provisional tax, cash flow forecasting, and bank payments.
• Leading property management accounting, owner distributions, reconciliations, GST compliance (IRD-aligned), monthly reporting.
• Overseeing development-related finances; preparing documentation for land acquisition and settlement, managing lender reporting, tracking refinancing and borrowing activities.
• Liaising with external parties such as tax agents, creditors, debtors, investors, and lenders.
• Supervising 2 Assistant Accountants,  providing mentorship, reviewing work, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
• Systems and process leadership; setting up and refining IRD accounts, general ledgers, bank feeds, credit facilities, and driving automation and efficiency improvements.

The right person will: 

• Bring senior level proven experience in multi-entity accounting (property/development experience a plus)
• Have advanced reconciliation skills and solid knowledge of New Zealand tax and compliance requirements
• Bring proven confidence in working independently while leading and supporting a small team
• A systems-focused mindset, comfortable improving processes and implementing automation - someone who has thorough working knowledge with new technology
• Have exceptional communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting
