About the Role

A leading business in the infrastructure and civil construction sector are looking for an experienced Construction Supervisor to join their Otago team as the business is growing. This role will be overseeing major work across high impact projects. It's a hands-on leadership role that will suit someone who thrives working on-site, has a high level of health and safety and loves working collaboratively within the team. 

As a Supervisor, you’ll take charge of daily operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements. You’ll bring together crew members, subcontractors, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional results—on time and to spec. This business is well-known for their ongoing process, longevity within the business and their down to earth environment. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead, coordinate and supervise site crews and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with all project specifications, safety standards and timelines
  • Conduct regular health and safety meetings, site audits and promote a culture of safety
  • Manage quality assurance and site inspections
  • Track progress, report on project milestones, and support planning adjustments as needed
  • Provide ongoing mentoring, support, and training to crew members
  • Monitor equipment use, materials and on-site logistics to minimise delays or waste
  • Act as a key liaison between site teams, engineers, and project managers
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily activity logs and reporting

About you: 

This role will suit someone who has experience working within the 3 waters project, whilst also having a strong background in civil construction with proven supervisory experience. You will enjoy working within a collaborative team, whilst having in-depth knowledge of construction methods and safety regulations

You will also have:

  • Skilled in interpreting plans, specifications, and project documentation
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Confidence to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Proficient in managing site resources and coordinating teams
  • Health & Safety focused with relevant site certifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant trade certification or diploma in civil construction
  • Prior experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, or earthworks projects
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance and sustainability practices
  • Exposure to working with external regulatory bodies and stakeholders
