About the role

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be solely responsible for the end-to-end accounting function and work closely with the company owner to keep the business financially strong. 

Your day will include:

• Monthly management accounts, all end-to-end accounting functions including payroll
• Process and monitor cashflow, accounts payable/receivables and banking transactions
• Job costing and margin analysis
• Ensure compliance with statutory returns (GST, FBT, RWT, PAYE) 
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and external accountants
• Improving systems and processes as the business grows
• Collaborate with the team, sharing your knowledge and insights from the construction or building industry

You’ll be the go-to for all things finance - trusted, valued and listened to.

About you

You’re practical, grounded and comfortable rolling up your sleeves and happy to help the team when busy in the showroom. Construction or building industry experience is a big plus as you need to know the why. 

You’ll likely bring:

• Proven experience in a company accountant or senior accounting role as chartered accountant with 8-10 years experience
• Strong knowledge of NZ accounting and tax requirements, with strong financial and analytical skills
• Confidence working autonomously and equally comfortable collaborating with the team on big picture focus
• Excellent communicator (this role is not hiding behind your desk) and attention to detail (without being precious about it)
• A calm, solutions-focused approach and confident sense of self - willing and able
