  • Sole-charge role with ownership of the Wellington region
  • Hands-on electrical and mechanical fault finding across specialised machinery
  • Growing business with genuine future leadership opportunities

My client is a specialist player in their field with a strong presence both locally and internationally. In New Zealand, they are one of the key providers in this space, with a solid reputation for delivering reliable, high quality technical machinery.

The local team is down to earth and practical, with leadership that understands the work firsthand. It's a flat structure where people are trusted to get on with the job and supported by a wider national network when needed. With continued growth underway across the country, this is a stable business offering long term career opportunities.

This is an exciting time to come on board. Growth is happening nationally, investment is being made into people and infrastructure and the Wellington region is ready for an experienced technician to take the reins.

What your day could look like

This is a hands on Service Technician role servicing clients across the wider Wellington region. The position combines installation, maintenance and fault finding across automated electrical machinery.

As the dedicated technical representative for the region, you'll be responsible for managing service work, breakdowns and client relationships across your territory. Backed by an experienced national team, you'll have the freedom to organise your own schedule, make decisions on the ground and take ownership of the region.

This isn't a role where you'll be sitting in an office or reporting into multiple layers of management. It's a role for someone who enjoys getting out on site, solving problems and being trusted to get on with the job.

Your day will consist of a mix of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, making this an ideal fit for someone who enjoys machinery and understands how equipment operates as a complete system.

Day to day will include

  • Installing, servicing and maintaining specialised automated machinery
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults
  • Responding to breakdowns and service callouts across the Wellington region
  • Managing your own workload and schedule
  • Building strong relationships with clients on site
  • Providing practical technical solutions to minimise downtime

So, what's in it for you?

This is a newly created role and an opportunity to become the go to technical expert for the Wellington region.

As the company continues to expand, there is genuine opportunity for career progression and future leadership for someone who wants to grow with the business. For the right person, this is a chance to get in early, establish yourself and be part of that journey.

Alongside the autonomy and long term opportunities, you will be well looked after with an excellent salary, with any overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours, a company vehicle, an on call allowance and an on call roster.

Benefits

  • Salary between $100,000 - $115,000 + overtime + on-call allowance
  • Fully expensed company vehicle, phone and laptop
  • Ongoing training on specialised automation and machinery
  • Long term career stability, with career growth opportunities, backed by a strong national support network
  • Ability to be based anywhere in the wider Wellington region

So, who are you and what do you bring?

You're a qualified sparky who enjoys solving problems, working with machinery and figuring out faults that others can't. This role is best suited to someone who has spent time in industrial, manufacturing or machinery based environments and understands that the best fault finding comes from looking at the whole picture, not just the electrical side of the problem.

You're practical, self sufficient and comfortable making decisions on the ground. The type of person who takes ownership, gets on with the job and builds strong relationships with clients along the way.

You will bring:

  • Current NZ Electrical Registration and Practising Licence
  • 4+ years' experience within industrial, manufacturing or machinery based environments
  • Strong fault finding ability across both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Confidence working independently and managing your own territory
  • Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions focused approach
  • Previous leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience would be highly regarded

This role will suit someone who enjoys responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to build something long term. You want more than just another service role and are excited by the prospect of helping shape the future of a growing business in the Wellington region.
