We are seeking a Physician’s Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive general practice team in the Wairarapa. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in improving the clinical workflow and overall patient experience.

About the Role

You will provide high-level administrative and clinical support to General Practitioners and the wider care team. This hands-on role will suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about improving systems and delivering exceptional patient care. You’ll act as a key connector between clinicians, patients, and external providers—ensuring communication is clear, care is coordinated, and nothing falls through the cracks.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Supporting GPs with clinical administration including correspondence, results management, follow-ups, and scheduling.

• Monitoring clinical inboxes and coordinating urgent tasks while GPs are on leave or unavailable.

• Communicating with patients regarding results, health education, and next steps in care.

• Assisting with care planning, referrals, and liaising with community providers.

• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and ensuring accurate patient documentation.

• Acting as a point of contact for families, pharmacies, and external agencies.

About You:

• Background in healthcare (e.g. medical qualification, RN, or clinical admin) with strong knowledge of patient care processes.

• Familiarity with NZ medical terminology and patient management systems (PMS).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to interact with a wide range of people in a respectful, empathetic, and culturally sensitive way.

• Strong time management, problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

• High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
