About the Roles:
We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join a supportive and well-established mental health service in the Whanganui region. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and holistic care, this service is known for its strong multidisciplinary teams and commitment to equity. Two positions are available:
Mental Health Services for Older Adults (no on-call requirement)

Provide specialist psychiatric care for older adults with complex presentations.

Lead assessments, treatment planning, and family/whānau support.

Opportunities to be involved in service development, neuro-stimulation services, and quality improvement initiatives.
Adult Community Mental Health (with on-call participation)

Deliver comprehensive community-based care for adults with a wide range of mental health and addiction needs.

Lead clinical decision-making and provide supervision and teaching to junior doctors.

Participate in the after-hours roster across Whanganui and neighbouring districts, ensuring continuity of care.
What we’re looking for:

Fellowship of RANZCP (or equivalent).

Eligible for vocational (or provisional vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Strong leadership and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary settings.

Commitment to equity and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in clinical practice.

A passion for making a tangible difference in mental health outcomes for diverse communities.
