This is a unique Research Pharmacist opportunity, offering a mix of pharmacy and research work that won’t suit everyone, but for the right person, it’s a fantastic chance to grow. It is a true hybrid position, combining core pharmacy responsibilities with hands-on clinical trial coordination. You will not be doing purely dispensary-based work. Instead, this role is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys variety, is highly organised, and is keen to develop adjacent skills within the clinical trials and research space.

You’ll be working closely with investigators, research nurses, coordinators, sponsors, and participants to ensure clinical trials are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest standard.

About the Organisation:
A well-established clinical research organisation based in South Auckland, focused on delivering high-quality commercial and investigator-initiated clinical trials. The organisation is driven by improving health outcomes for New Zealanders through robust trial management, ethical research practices, and strong community engagement. The environment is collaborative, multidisciplinary, and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on quality, cultural sensitivity, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Research Pharmacist, your role will sit across pharmacy services and trial coordination, including:

  • Managing all pharmacy services for clinical trials, including investigational product (IP) ordering, storage, compounding, dispensing, accountability, and destruction.
  • Acting as the key pharmacy contact for trial feasibility, start-up, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Ensuring IP preparation and handling is completed in line with protocols, SOPs, ICH-GCP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting trial delivery by coordinating participant visits, documentation, and protocol-driven activities.
  • Working with participants to support understanding of trial medicines and processes.
  • Maintaining meticulous documentation, accountability logs, and clinical trial databases.
  • Collaborating closely with investigators, research nurses, sponsors, monitors, and internal teams.
  • Participating in audits, monitoring visits, and quality improvement initiatives.

About You:

  • NZ-registered Pharmacist with current APC.

  • Interested in expanding your scope of practice beyond traditional pharmacy.

  • Comfortable working in a hybrid role that includes coordination, documentation, and participant interaction.

  • Previous clinical trials experience is an advantage, but full training will be provided for the right person.

  • Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn, ICH-GCP and clinical research principles.

  • Highly organised, rigorous, and detail-focused.

  • Empathetic, engaging, and culturally sensitive in your approach.

  • Confident working across multiple stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with clinical systems and Microsoft Office.
