An exciting opportunity exists for a highly experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join this dynamic Advanced Nursing Team as a Clinical Nurse Advisor.

This pivotal after-hours role is suited to a confident clinical leader with strong acute care experience who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment. As the most senior RN across the hospital after-hours, you will play a key role in supporting clinical excellence, responding to emergencies, and guiding nursing teams through complex patient situations.

About the Role

Working across two leading private hospital sites in Auckland on a rotating basis, you will provide expert clinical oversight and operational leadership during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Shifts include:

  • 8-hour weekday PM shifts
  • 10-hour night shifts
  • 12-hour weekend shifts

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight during after-hours and weekends
  • Respond to clinical emergencies and support escalation of deteriorating patients
  • Deliver advanced bedside clinical support and mentorship to nursing teams
  • Utilise advanced assessment skills to support safe, evidence-based patient care
  • Monitor staffing levels and coordinate adjustments to maintain safe staffing
  • Liaise with internal staffing teams regarding bed allocation and casual staffing requirements

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive acute clinical nursing experience, including current critical care experience in ICU, HDU, or Emergency settings
  • Previous leadership experience within a hospital environment
  • Advanced clinical competencies including cannulation, phlebotomy, ECG, and catheterisation
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Experience within New Zealand or Australian healthcare settings
