We are seeking a motivated and skilled Clinical Psychologist to join a specialist Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service in central Auckland.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team providing assessment, formulation and brief psychological interventions for tangata whaiora experiencing acute mental health challenges within an inpatient setting.

The service is based within a modern 58 bed acute mental health unit located in central Auckland, offering a dynamic clinical environment focused on delivering high quality, safe and equitable care. The role provides the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside psychiatrists, nursing staff and allied health clinicians supporting recovery-focused treatment pathways for adults with complex mental health needs.

We are looking for a clinician who brings:

  • Strong clinical assessment and formulation skills
  • Experience working within inpatient and/or acute mental health settings
  • Knowledge and experience in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, ACT and mindfulness-based approaches
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic groups
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and equitable mental health care
  • Interest in supporting service improvement and high-quality clinical practice

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology (or recognised equivalent)
  • Registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board with a Clinical Scope of Practice
  • A current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Experience working with adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties
  • Neuropsychological or cognitive assessment experience is advantageous
