Permanent Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities | Auckland
We are seeking experienced and motivated Consultant Psychiatrists for two exciting opportunities within specialist mental health services in Auckland. These roles offer the chance to work within highly skilled multidisciplinary teams delivering evidence-based care across acute inpatient and youth forensic settings.
One opportunity is within a specialist Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Service providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults experiencing serious mental illness and severe psychological distress within a purpose-built inpatient environment.
The second opportunity is within a Regional Youth Forensic Service delivering specialist forensic psychiatric care and assessment for young people involved in the forensic system across community, court and residential settings.
These roles provide the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of tangata whai ora and rangatahi while working in supportive, collaborative and academically stimulating clinical environments.
We are looking for Psychiatrists who bring:
- Strong clinical expertise within acute adult and/or youth forensic psychiatry
- Excellent assessment, diagnostic and risk management skills
- A recovery-focused and person-centred approach to care
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and wider community networks
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to culturally safe practice and equitable health outcomes
- Interest in service development, teaching and ongoing professional development
The Youth Forensic opportunity additionally offers involvement in forensic assessments, court reporting, youth justice liaison and multidisciplinary collaboration supporting young people with complex mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.
To be successful in these roles, you will have:
- Vocational registration (or eligibility for vocational registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Psychiatry
- A current Annual Practising Certificate or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience working within mental health services in inpatient, community and/or forensic settings
- Experience with child and adolescent services and neurodevelopmental pathways is advantageous for the Youth Forensic role
- Willingness to participate in an on-call roster for the Acute Adult Inpatient role
